Created by Iowa teachers for Iowa teachers
Elections 101 is an elections curriculum crafted by Iowans, for Iowans. The Secretary of State aimed to empower educators with the opportunity to foster engaging discussions and encourage active student participation. Elections 101 is a curriculum that aims to engage students, involve parents, and connect with the community, all while educating about Iowa’s distinctive role in the political landscape.
This free curriculum is available completely online and it is customizable so that you can choose to use some, or all, of the 10-day lesson plans. The curriculum is set up in 30, 60 or 90-minute increments, allowing you to access the information in a timeframe that best serves you and your students. Because this is written by the educators themselves, the lessons are compliant with Iowa Core requirements for Political Science-Civic Literacy.
