Agricultural reports are filed with the Office of the Iowa Secretary of State. Because each reporting entity is carefully defined by law, it will be necessary for you to refer to the instructions page of the report form or speak with your own legal counsel to determine whether you need to file a report, and if you meet the requirements for any filing exemptions.

Foreign Agricultural Land Ownership
This registration must be filed by any non-resident alien, foreign business, or foreign government, or an agent, trustee, or fiduciary thereof, which owns an interest in agricultural land in this state. It must be made within 60 days after acquiring the land or interest in the land. There is no fee to file the registration.
Foreign Land Ownership Registration
Reports must be filed every year by March 31st. Failure to file will result in a report being sent to the office of the Iowa Attorney General and a civil penalty may be imposed. There is no fee to file the report
